I'm Evan Gilroy. I grew up on an apple orchard in Grey County and have always made food a big part of my life. That may be because I love food, and I eat a lot, but most of all, I love food because of how it affects people. I graduated from the University of Guelph a few years ago with Bachelor of Bio Resource Management. The degree taught me a lot, but most of all, reassured me that i belong in the food and agriculture sector. I am a very optimistic person. I have high hopes for the future of our food system and the people in our world. |
Bicycle
My Bike 2016 Kona Rove al
I called Mac Talla Cycle in Vancouver after doing a little bit of research and decided this was going to be my ride. I had to take the chance and take everyone else's word that this bike would hold up to the test, and it sure did! I loaded it up before I even took it for a test drive. It weighed about 100 pounds all said and done. Took a little getting used to, but within a few days of my trip we were best friends. I wore out 1 tire, had 9 flat tires, but the bike worked perfectly all the way home.

There are so many different kinds of adventures. You can go on an adventure in your own home. I'm used to taking my canoe and going deep into the wilderness, having the idea that the farther I get away from civilization the better the adventure will be. I now know that I was going about experience in a very forced way. During my trip I never really planned more than a day ahead, most of the time not even knowing where I was going to sleep until a few minutes before I set up my tent. I allowed for the trip to just happen, I wasn't pushing to fill any stereotype in my mind.
For the most part I slept in my tent. It was my home; it kept me dry, and most importantly, kept the mosquitos out! Bed: 4 nights Couch: 2 nights Hammock: 1.5 nights Tent: 22.5 nights |
